With extraordinary strength, courage and dignity Theo passed peacefully, with family at his side, in his home after facing his battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Hulda; son, Reinhard (Elaine); daughter, Linda (Tim); son, Roland (Janelle); grandchildren, Christopher, Erika and Andrea; Elaine's daughters Jordyne and Taylor; the Mantei family in Alberta and Poland; nephew, Helmut and family in Germany; nephew, Richard; niece, Susan and their families in the U.S., and also many family and friends throughout Canada and Europe. Theo was predeceased by his infant daughter Annie; his parents, and his brothers. Theo was born on August 24, 1928 in the village of Nowe Zalueze near the town of Chelm, Poland. He went to West Germany in 1950. There he met and married Hulda on March 13, 1954. Two months later Theo and Hulda came to Canada arriving by ship in May 1954. They worked at Lee Tully's sugar beet farm in Newton Siding near Portage La Prairie for five months. In October 1954 they moved to Winnipeg and Theo started working at Quality Construction as a drywaller and continued as a drywaller until his retirement. Uncle Theo's loves were of family, history and story telling. It was through our chats that I learned much of our family's European experiences. That link to my past is no more but will continue in fond memories of those few family visits and many telephone calls. You are all in our thoughts as this part of the family gathers here (from Texas and North Carolina) for its annual celebration of Christmas. - Posted by: Suzanne (Habke) Konsen (Niece, Wadsworth, OHIO, USA) on: Dec 21, 2012
