MERT SCHMIDT (MURIEL MCCULLAGH) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mert Schmidt, our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Boundary Trails Health Centre with her family by her side. To all my family, cousins and especially my husband, Rudy, daughter, Marlene (Martin) Evans, son, Dwayne (Caroline) and my very much loved grandchildren, Amanda-Jane Evans Froese (Henry) and Riley Evans (Nichelle), Robert Schmidt (Jordyne) and Barron Schmidt, my precious great-grandchildren, Meadow, Birch and Fox Evans-Froese and our family friend, Doug Gibson. I leave you with all love and No sad songs'. I am with you in the winds that blow, the glistening snow, the gentle rain, the stars and moon that shine at night. I am with you in each new dawn. Memories and love are yours forever. Cremation has taken place and as I requested, there will not be a formal nor a remembrance service. I love you all . Marlindway Ranch, Falcon Lake was built and operated by Mert and Rudy from 1962-74. After the family business was sold, we continued to spend summers at Falcon Lake Seasonal Trailer Village. Mum loved to spend her time at the beach as well as golfing and playing tennis. Her evenings at the lake were with friends and family or a good book while sitting by the nightly campfire. Mum spent countless hours volunteering her time at Silver Heights Community Club and driving many hockey players to their practices and games. A true Hockey Mom to her son she later followed her grandsons' hockey. The move to Charleswood was an exciting time, Mum could decorate a brand new home. Mum could have been an interior designer. Mum enjoyed her pool with friends and family. She truly was the Hostess with the Mostest . The relationships she had with everyone she touched, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was an amazing tribute to the kind of woman she was. Mum worked for the Manitoba Government Taxation Department where she was a supervisor for many years. She retired to enjoy life to its fullest with her husband, Rudy. Mum will be truly missed and never forgotten by all who were fortunate to meet her. In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated and may be made and in Merts' memory to Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation Box 2000 Winkler, MB R6W 1H8.
