Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • You were a good guy Larry. "Nuff said". - Posted by: Mike & Kathy (Friends, Budds.) on: May 07, 2013

  • I met Larry through Phil O'Connell when they were in The Griffins together. I attended several of their rehearsals over at Larry's home on Grosvenor. Last year, after not having seen Larry for about 40+ years, we re-connected through one of his calendar photo shoots, and then again twice in 2012 at Rockin Richards. While I could not be considered one of his close friends, at my first impression of him was that this is a very decent person. Forty years later when I saw him again, Larry was as warm and friendly as when I was first over at his place in 1966. - Posted by: Paul Newsome (Friend/acquaintance) on: Jan 03, 2013

  • I met Larry a few years ago when my best friend Debbie told me of her new friend. I was very happy to hear she met someone new but also hoping that he would be someone who would treat her right. Well when I met him I told her he seemed very nice, and I laugh to this day when I remember his voice saying "Deb its Jamie", wondering if I annoyed him how many times I would call her every day. I really never had a bad thing to say about Larry, he was very quiet but I could see he loved Debbie dearly. Not sure what to say Larry but just to let you know I will do all I can to help Debbie through this so you can be at peace knowing that she will be safe and I will always be here for her. Rest well my friend..Jamie - Posted by: Jamie Graham (friend) on: Dec 30, 2012

  • Larry was someone I met and knew back in the late 60s through music. He was a really good person and being involved in his world through his playing in Mantae and management of Plum Tucker--2 bands in Winnipeg-was a special time. I reconnected with Larry through Manitoba Music Museum on Facebook in the last while and had hoped to visit with him on my next visit to Winnipeg as I live in Vancouver.Sadly it was not meant to be. My sincere condolences to all family and lived ones who mourn Larry now. Goodbye old friend Danny - Posted by: Dan Cssavant (old friend and felliw musicin) on: Dec 30, 2012

  • Larry shot my "Munsters " shoot with Dee as Lily. A true professional as well as a guy who would laugh at my corny jokes when I was at Pop 'n Eye's. For those of us still here, remember life is so short..live,love and laugh...make amends and tell someone you love them ...now! - Posted by: Jon Ljungberg (Friend) on: Dec 30, 2012

  • Deb and Family, I would like you to know that Larry was one of the gentlest gentlemen that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Unfortunately, through the years we did not stay in touch but I thought of him often. I remember when we were recording "Not To Return" in an office in the old Hart Building on Fort Street, Larry was having a bit of trouble focusing, suddenly he stood up and headed for the door saying "I'm going out to climb a tree!". He finally came back but I giggle every time I think of that moment. He had a great sense of humour and made me laugh often. I am so sorry for your grief. • Larry joins his pal Steve Phelps and what a pair. Both way too young tp depart us. I clearly recall Larry with his Beatle Bass. He made a lot of the early music possible for lots of us. Creative guy and mischievous too. Our world is diminished without him. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Kenn Richard () on: Dec 29, 2012

  • Larry took our wedding pictures in 1998. I told him I wasn't very photogenic and that he had his work cut out for him, but the pictures turned out amazing. He was a wonderful photographer. In fact, he did such a super job, I thought if anyone can make someone look good in passport pictures, it would be him. We then got him to take those too and sure enough, they were great as well. He was a very nice friendly man. Our deepest condolences to his family. - Jerry Kolbuck and Donna Kolbuck-Street - Posted by: Donna Kolbuck-Street (Customer) on: Dec 29, 2012
