I was sorry to learn (so belatedly) of Harry's passing. Garfield Street was defined by the likes of Harry: active, fun, daring, kind and loyal. I have many good memories of dear Harry, and my Mother adored him. My condolences to Harry's family and friends. As I sit here on a quiet early morning reading the comments of those who knew and loved my brother I cry that choking sob, eyes filled with tears and heart in pain. I miss him. And all of you have been so kind to remind me why I do. Thank you for your words, your memories. Isn’t it great that we can still live the good times in our minds and love and laugh again. Thank you Harry. - Posted by: Wesley (Brother) on: Apr 13, 2013

Harry my dear friend your are gone but not forgotten by me. Harry and I spent many good times together both in school and out. We spent many hours in both his home and mine. There are so many memories that come to my mind. I played in local Winnipeg band during the sixties and Harry was our driver. Harry enjoyed the gigs and was considered a band member. My favorite memory was the time we both drove to Toronto together to see the musical Hair. We drove out there in my 1961 VW. And 5 minutes out of Winnipeg with Harry driving he picked up a speeding ticket. He always blamed it on a tail wind. Harry my friend I will miss you but you will always be in my heart. God bless and take good care of you my friend. I miss you greatly. - Posted by: Wayne ( the Fox ) Moxon (friend ) on: Mar 27, 2013

Just saying the name Harry brings a smile. Being around Harry meant happy times and crazy antics. No family party was complete unless Harry was there. You are missed our Harry and will never be forgotten. - Posted by: Tanis (cousin in law) on: Jan 07, 2013

Harry and Lynn are good friends of our family. I will always remember kitchen parties, Harry jiving with my Mom, his love of music, soccer and of course Georgie Best. In fact, he's probably dancing with Jeannie or telling stories - which he loved to do. He is loved, and will be missed. - Posted by: Lori (Friend !) on: Jan 07, 2013

I worked with Harry for ten years in the advertising department at Eatons. We had lots of good times at work and at the Abby. Lynne was a good friend too. When I moved to B.C they had a wonderful going away party for me at their house. I remember all the great stories Harry told about their late night hockey games. He loved being the goalie even though he could not skate very well. Harry was like a brother to us all. He loved his family very much. Lots of our good times included Wes. I remember the night he accidentally broke the barrier to the Eatons parkade. We had all been partying and my car was in the parkade. We lived in fear of being found out for quite awhile. We loved our jobs in Advertising. Harry was a good friend through my fathers passing and through my divorce...always there to make me laugh. Everything could be cured by a trip to the Abby. Yet, we all worked very hard and did our jobs well. He was a great boss and friend. I talked to Harry on the phone quite awhile back and he told me about him and Lynn and how Lynn was still so good to him and he said we are still there for each other. My sympathies to all who loved and cared about Harry. He was a good, caring person who was loved by many. I have great memories. Thanks Harry! - Posted by: Wanda ( Jonasson ) Widsten (Friend and former co-worker at Eatons) on: Jan 05, 2013

I had the pleasure of working with Harry as a supplier in Winnipeg and when he was in Vancouver. The relationship quickly turned into a friendship. He was loyal to his suppliers and and you don't see that anymore. He knew how to work hard and play hard. :-) An icon and legend in Winnipeg advertising is gone. Deepest sympathy to the family. - Posted by: Neil MAckie (friend) on: Jan 03, 2013

Harry was a good friend, and a good person. I played soccer with him, and helped start Brittania Rovers with him. We had so many good times together in Wpg, and Vancouver. Downed many a pint together, and had many laughs. I will miss him a great deal. One of his favourite sayings, was, (as the monkey said when he slid down the knife, they're off.) Harry is off now. But not forgotten. - Posted by: Martin Ingham (Friend) on: Jan 03, 2013

Harry was a really good friend of mine; I worked with him at Eaton's Advertising for years as a darkroom guy & photographer .. all of us guys there were like family, working & playing together .. we were doing 'flexi-hours' before they were invented! Harry was in charge of Production, & although we spent many hours in the "Scabby Abby" on our elongated lunch hours, Harry always made sure we never missed a deadline, and was well respected for it. Yes, he loved his football & was a huge fan of Georgie Best .. I remember his nick-name in the Britannia Rovers .. he was known as the 'Belfast Crusher' .. the ball rarely got past Harry! I'll never forget him .. as a work mate, and a friend, he was the best a guy could ever have .. he was a real "Cool Breeze"! My sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Jim Bordass (Close friend & workmate. (Bradford, Yorkshire, England)) on: Jan 03, 2013

Harry was my best friend for so many years. He was also my boss. We talked about anything and everything.I have so many stories that I could share - they all bring a smile to my face. His family and Lynn's family were also my and Chuck's family. My friends were their friends. Oh, how he loved The Abbey! So many great times were from there. To all of Harry's family and friends and the Calvert family - I know that Harry is now in a better place and I will miss him so much. I thought of him at least once a week and wondered how he was doing. The advertising community considered him an icon. I was constantly asked how harry was doing - because they all cared about him! You all have my deepest sympathies at this time. Harry was one of the good guys and will be terribly missed! I loved him. - Posted by: Nanci Dagg (Good friend) on: Jan 03, 2013
