JOVANNA MARIE (MASCIOLI) LECREN Peacefully, at home with family, after a 13 year illness, Jovanna was called to be with her Lord and Saviour during the evening of December 27, 2012. Jovanna was born and raised in Winnipeg, following Churchill High School she entered nursing at Red River Community College, graduating in 1973. She spent most of her career in the neo-natal wards at Victoria and Grace Hospitals; highlights of her career were having more than one baby named after her in appreciation of the care she gave. Jovanna met Bruce on a blind date in 1976, and they commenced their 35 years of marriage on September 17, 1977. She was fortunate enough to leave nursing to be a fulltime mother and homemaker to their sons Scott, Sanderson and Sean, on their acreage in Vermette. In 1998 Bruce's work took the family to Beaumont, near Edmonton. Jovannna's pride and joy was watching her three boys grow into successful young men. Jovanna and Bruce travelled widely, visiting friends from coast to coast. She had especially good memories of feeding the geese in St. James' Park, the view of Paris by night from the Eiffel tower, the horse drawn carriage ride to Neuschwanstein Castle, Bolte Castle along the St. Lawrence Seaway, high tea at Butchart Gardens, white water rafting on the Shubenacadie River, cruising to Alaska, the scenic city of Savannah and seeing the wild horses on the St. Mary's Island in Georgia. When at home her passions were her sons, her dogs, collecting porcelain dolls and her rose garden. She took great pride in creating a quiet back yard oasis surrounded by a wide variety of blooms and colours. Jovanna is survived by her husband Bruce, sons Scott (Mellisa), Sanderson and Sean, her mother Karen Mascioli and sister Audrey (Alvin) Wiebe of Winnipeg, sister Coreen Henderson of Kelowna, brother-in-law Michael (Joanne) LeCren of Regina and sister-in-law Joan (Garth) Mosher of Winnipeg, as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Mascioli and parents-in-law Denis and Myrtle LeCren. Cremation has taken place. Deacon Maralyn Benay will officiate Jovannna's remembrance service at Hainstock's Funeral Chapel in Edmonton at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 7. A private interment will take place in Winnipeg at a later date. The family wishes to thank all Jovanna's friends for their compassion during this time. It is Jovanna's wish that, in lieu of flowers, she be remembered through donations to local humane societies or animal shelters.
