MURIEL RUTH HARDER (nee JONES) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ruth, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by the love of her family, Ruth passed away December 31, 2012, at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 65. Ruth was born on February 14, 1947, in Neepawa, MB, to Marion and William Jones. On February 20, 1965, she married the love of her life and best friend Harry and started a family and life together in Winnipeg, MB. Ruth was employed as a cook for over 20 years at Rossmere Golf and Country Club. She especially loved the people she worked with and made many friends over the course of her time there. She loved the summer months and enjoyed spending time out at her trailer at the Oasis in the company of many family and friends. Ruth's greatest joy in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She spent her life giving everything she had to her family and friends and never asked for anything in return. She will be remembered for her love of life, her sense of humour, and the joy she had helping others. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Marion and William, and her loving husband Harry in 2003. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Sheila (David), her son Brad, her grandchildren, Melissa, Lisa, Briane, Cody, Madisyn and Lucas, her brother Vic (Marie) Jones, her two special nieces, Sue (Rick) and Lynn and her precious mother-in-law Mary Harder Reimer. She is also survived and loved by many extended family and friends. A Memorial Service and a Celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A private family interment will follow at a later date. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the many doctors and nurses at CancerCare and Health Sciences Centre and to the many family and friends whose love and support we could have not done without. A special thanks to Donna Mardynalka for all her help taking Mom to appointments and being there for her when we weren't able to. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made in Ruth's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. "The Ones we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear." 204-586-8044

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My heart is saddened to see Ruth's passing. I fondly recall, often how much laughter & fun always coming from the ' Round Table ' of best friends, I was a waitress! I go back into those memories alot- my Auntie Donna, Ruth, Tom & the whole gang. Those were such great times and it always had a special place in my heart. I feel your pain, Aunty Donna. Ruth being so comforted by you, is a gift you gave so unselfishly. She'll keep that with her. And she will make sure that there's a new round table for you and the rest of the gang, when the time is right! If I see Ruth before you? I'll give her a big hug from you. Take Care. God Bless! Love always, Danielle - Posted by: Danielle Giesbrecht (Acquaintance/friend ) on: Jan 08, 2013

  • Dear Sheila your mom was amazing, very welcoming and witty. I know she appreciated everything you had done for her and are still doing for her, especially in the past while as she was going through cancer. In and out of check ups, appointments you did the best as you could to keep her comfortable and happy. I love how strong you were for your mom and how hard you tried to give her the best Christmas you could give. As your step-daughter I will always be there for you when you need me. Your mom and dad are looking down on you and they would be proud and honoured to have you as there daughter. Also I am so sorry you and Brad both had to go through this pain twice, they are at peace and finally back together. Hope you both can be strong through the pain you will feel as you have lost someone so special. Love you Ruth. Love you Sheila so much, always will. Will Ruth rest in peace. - Posted by: Melissa McFadzean () on: Jan 06, 2013
