MARVIN MONK With great sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Marvin on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Riverview Health Centre. Marvin is survived by his wife Marg; daughters Karen, Patti (Rick); granddaughter Ashley; great-granddaughter Rain ( My Little Buddy ); brothers Lloyd (Shirley), Glen (Shirley); and sister-in-law Teresa. Marvin trained as a barber, later worked in the automotive industry and then his own sales business. A great fondness of Marvin's was 'old-time' music and his years spent with CFRY. The family spent many enjoyable summers at their cabin at Pleasant Valley on Pelican Lake. A Celebration of Marvin's Life will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Niakwa Country Club, 620 Niakwa Road. Interment will be held in the Brandon Cemetery at a later date. Was at Robin's on Waverley the other day, which was the last place I saw you Marvin (Dad). When I walked in that day and we saw each other you immediately got up and came over and hugged me, it was so genuine, but that's how you were. I will always remember that. I am so sorry Marg (Mom), Patti, Rick and everyone that he was taken from you too soon. - Posted by: Darlene T. () on: Jan 28, 2013

When Marvin was in hospital he had many friends that dropped in to visit with him. He was always so happy they came and didn't want them to leave. It was the same when he was home for two months. He was never too tired to have company or to talk on the phone. He was more than delighted when his nephew, Gavin, came from London, England and surprised him with a visit. Brother Lloyd from Edmonton came on two separate visits following the one in the summer when the three brothers were together. Marvin's brother Glen was constantly by his side. Marvin never complained or let on that he was in pain. He was gracious and humerous to the very end. My sincerest sympathy to the Monk family for their loss. - Posted by: Shirley Penner (friend) on: Jan 18, 2013

Uncle Marvin appears in most of my baby pictures - like a big brother. I can hear his laugh whenever I think of him.
