ALFRED (TED) HUNT Peacefully, surrounded by family, Dad passed away on January 4, 2013 at the age of 90. He was born in Rathwell, Manitoba to John and Annie Hunt. He was predeceased by his wife Maggie and his granddaughter Jolene, also siblings Clarence, Cecelia, Phyllis, Bill, Louisa and Al. Dad is survived by Doug (Lori) Devon and Jonathon, Marilyn (David McKay) Jeff and Sara, Mike and Amanda, Gary and Jason, Jack, Debbie (Warren Kaminsky) Paul, Carly and Derek, Jim (Jan), Kevin and Thea, Tanyse and Jory, Dale, Don (Janice), Andrew, Jennifer, Daniel, Dave (Adele), Bradley, Angie and Tyler, Rick (Dawn), Spencer, Karmyn, and his seven great-grandchildren. In 1941 Dad joined the army and fought overseas with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons. He was one of the early members of the Sanford Legion Branch. Dad spent 11 years driving cat and scraper for the R.M. of Macdonald. During this time, he met and married Maggie Hallick. He later joined the Department of National Defence as a mechanic. Ted and Maggie always had a huge garden, and many hours were spent working in it. Even after Maggie's passing, Ted could be found puttering in the garden and still canning tomatoes. He fondly was dubbed "Teddy the Tiller" by his family. Dad enjoyed following his kids in sports and could be found helping to flood the ice in winter, or coaching baseball in summer. He was an avid curler in his earlier years, and enjoyed golfing later in life. One of Ted's favourite pastimes was hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons, creating many everlasting memories. The family would like to thank the staff on T3 West at Deer Lodge Centre for their wonderful care and support. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
