CURTIS KUSTRA Peacefully on January 6, 2013, at the age of 52, with his family surrounding him, Curtis passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital. Left to cherish his memory are wife Kathy; daughters Amanda (Jesse) and Melissa; his grandson Jonah; his brother Guy; sisters Allyn and Cheryl; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Curtis was predeceased by his mother and father, Helen and Michael, as well as brother Wayne. Curtis grew up the youngest of five and had many adventures in the back lanes of Weston. Curtis found his soul mate and best friend Kathy early in life. They were blessed to share 31 happy years together. Curtis' greatest passion was cars and he spent 35 years working in the automotive industry as a Journeyman Mechanic, finishing his career with Pointe West Collision Centre. Curtis' happiest times were spent working on his '36 Ford Coupe and his '55 Chevy, travelling, spending time with his family - especially his little buddy Jonah - and hanging out with his many friends. Curtis will be forever remembered for his sense of humour, his generosity and his love of life; he never took anything too seriously. Curtis fought cancer with courage and determination. Special thanks to Dr. Fatoye, the staff of the Oncology Department and the staff of the fifth Floor, Unit 1 at Seven Oaks Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Curtis' memory to CancerCare Manitoba or Seven Oaks Hospital. A celebration of Curtis' life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, with reception to immediately follow. There is no easy journey from the Earth to the stars, but I will always love you to the moon and back. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111

  • Our most heartfelt condolences go to Kathy and family for your loss. Whenever we met, Curtis always had a ready smile, a good word or funny story. The haunted house he created with such meticulous detail in his garage every Hallowe’en was a treat for young and old not only on our street, but also in our neighbourhood. We are deeply saddened at his passing - he was a good person and we will miss him. Our thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. - Posted by: The Prokipchuks (Rosemarie, Doug, Tim & Chris) (neighbour) on: Jan 10, 2013

  • I met Curtis about 9 years ago as we had similar cars and attended a lot of the same events. I got to know him better when he and I realized he worked with our son at Pointe West. Curtis was a guy that when you met him you instantly liked him and knew that he would be a friend way down the road. He was a very upbeat, positive person even through his illness. Our memory of him will be cruising through the fairgrounds last summer at the Fifties in his black, flamed coupe. Curtis, I'm glad to have known you and our thoughts are with your family. - Posted by: Griff and Donna (Friends) on: Jan 09, 2013
