NADA POKLAR (ZLENDER)
Date of Passing: Jan 07, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNADA POKLAR (nee ZLENDER) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nada, our mother and grandmother. Mom passed away on January 7, 2013 at the Misericordia Health Centre, at the age of 88 years. Nada was predeceased by her husband, Rudy Poklar in 1976. Mother was the last surviving member of her family, being predeceased by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Nada will be sadly missed and cherished by her children Boris, Tania (Louis), Emil, and Mickey (Rita), grandchildren, Richard (Judy), Mark (Sherri), David, Eric (Sarah) and Alexandra, great-grandsons Nathan, Eli, and Matthew. Nada was born on October 25, 1924, in Stanga, Slovenia. Like many of her generation, living in post war Europe, Nada, with her husband Rudy and son Boris immigrated to Canada in 1950, to begin a new life. After a short stay in St. Eustache, working on a farm, they moved to Winnipeg. Mom spent the majority of her working life in the garment industry, as she was a very good seamstress. Mom was fortunate enough to return to Europe on three separate occasions to visit with family and friends. She said she always missed the mountains the most. She also made a special trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina to visit with family. She enjoyed the outdoors, and could often be seen puttering in her yard and garden, or passing the time sitting on her bench. Nada had a very strong faith and belief in God, and was an ardent participant in the Church throughout her life. Our family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Wing 6B, Misericordia Health Centre, for their part in our Mother's life these last six months. In our eyes, you treated her as family, with care and compassion that will not be forgotten. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 95 Macdonald Ave. Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association 1400-522 University Ave. Toronto, ON M5G 2R5. 204-586-8044
