EDWARD JOHN KOWALCHUK August 13, 1945 - January 8, 2013 With his loving wife by his side, Ed passed away at Stonewall Hospital, on January 8, 2013, at age 67. Surrounded by the love of his family for two weeks, he fought hard with little complaint. Left to remember him are his wife of 37 years, Patty; sons Corey (Tammy) and Kelsey and daughter Nancy (Brad); his grandchildren Sierra, Ryder, Cierra and Brody; his mother Mary; brother Tom (Chris) and sisters Rosalie (Mike) and Lucy (Terry); brothers-in-law Lloyd (Marlene) and Paul (Dorothy), their families and also his two furry friends, Bailey and Roxy. He was predeceased by his father George and mother and father-in-law Alexander and Anne. Eddie was born in Teulon, raised in Komarno and he married Patty on March 8, 1975. He worked as a concrete finisher most of his life, the majority with Koreman Concrete, doing commercial flooring. Most of his work was in Winnipeg, but it also took him all over Manitoba. He loved his job, but had to retire early due to his health. Eddie enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards, picking mushrooms and on TV, watching Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right, curling, football, hockey and old movies. There was also meeting the guys for coffee at 5:00 p.m. and going to the casino with Patty a few times a year. His evening phone calls and visits to his Mom were also special to him. Most of all, he loved making people laugh and telling funny stories, as he had a natural sense of humour and a kind heart. Extra special thanks to Dr. Kerr Graham, the Stonewall Hospital nursing and aide staff and the kitchen and cleaning staff. VICHNAYA PAMYAT If desired, donations can be made to Komarno Holy Trinity Church or Cemetery, in care of Helen Ewankiw, Box 875, Teulon MB, or to the Stonewall Hospital Nursing Staff Association, in care of Stonewall Hospital. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Teulon Rockwood Hall. MACKENZIE FUNERAL CHAPEL TEULON (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net
