HELGA HEESE On Friday, January 4, 2013 after a 10 year and often painful struggle with Cancer our Mom, Helga Heese, left this earth to be with our Lord. In joining her husband Egon, to whom she was married for 57 years and who predeceased her in 2002, she is finally at peace. Left to cherish Helga's memory are her children Richard (Margot) and Christa (George Gordichuk); her many grandchildren: Vickie (Dave), Michael (Tracy), Darryl (Brenda) and Ronald (Tarina)) and great-grandchildren: Kylie, Codey, Taron, Ashley, Blake, Anthony and Matthew, who will miss her immensely. She will also be missed by her family remaining in Germany, namely her sisters Elsa and Christa; as well as her brothers Horst and Martin and many nephews and nieces. Helga and Egon came to Canada in the early 1950s with their two children, leaving Germany and their families to forge a new and better life for their children. They loved to travel and did so extensively, particularly after Dad's retirement, and enjoyed their time at the cottages where they spent their summer months. Throughout Helga's life she was richly blessed with a large and loving family to whom she devoted herself unconditionally until the end, and a life free from sickness until diagnosed with Lymphoma in late 2002. She remained strong in her New Apostolic faith, which surely sustained and strengthened her during her battle with Cancer. The family would like to thank Mom's many friends at Villa Heidelberg, where she lived the last 10 years of her life. Without their love and assistance she could not have managed independently on her own. We would also like to thank the many Brothers and Sisters of the New Apostolic Church whose love and prayers sustained her during her difficult time. Lastly we would also like to thank the many care givers at CancerCare and the Health Sciences Centre for the many hours they spent with our Mom to comfort her. They are to be commended for their extreme patience and empathy during difficult times. A Celebration Service to celebrate Helga's life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Apostolic Church, 1755 Taylor Avenue, in Winnipeg, Manitoba R3N1Y2. Flowers are gratefully declined however those wishing to express their sympathies in this manner are encouraged to make a contribution in Helga's memory to the NAC Foreign Extension Fund (Church address) or to CancerCare Manitoba. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
