LAWRENCE BRUCE MURPHY It is with sadness and relief that we announce the passing of our dear dad and stepdad, Lawrence (Larry) Bruce Murphy at age 83. We thank the Lord for answering our prayers to take Larry out of his pain and suffering. Dad died at the Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at 7:30 a.m. He is predeceased by his father and mother and brothers and sisters, Annie, Rae, William, Alice, Fredrick, Barbara, John, Margaret, George, Glen and Audrey; son, Lawrence and daughter, Elizabeth, stepdaughter, Sylvia (Randy). Larry is survived by his daughter, Debra (Bill); step-children, Leonard (Steffi), Norman (Yvonne), Lyndon (Bev), Linda (Dave), grandchildren and great-grandchildren, too numerous to mention. Larry very proudly served in the Military and was deployed to Korea during the War with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. Larry drove a Moore's Taxi Cab for many years where he met and married his soul mate, Anita. When Unicity Taxi was formed they each purchased a taxi cab and began their life together. Larry loved to fish, hunt, play baseball, golf and garden and enjoyed these activities throughout his life. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road, Winnipeg, at 11:00 a.m. with lunch and interment to follow. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • We were nieghbours for 20 years. Larry & Anita were missed when they moved from Paradise Village. They are missed more so now as we know we will never see them again. They were dedicated in coming to most functions. Larry was noted for his flowers and the coffee hour twice a week. We are so sorry to have missed his celebration of life, due to icy roads. Had to turn back and go home. Our Deepest Sympathy to his family. Gordon & Ida Schwab - Posted by: Gordon & Ida Schwab (nieghbour) on: Jan 16, 2013

  • Larry and Anita were the first to come to our door to welcome us to Paradise Village when we moved here in 2007. Throughout the next years they were the kindest and most considerate of neighbours. Most summer afternoons, you could find Larry relaxing on his deck, welcoming any passer by to come sit for a chat, which Peter and I looked forward to and enjoyed very often. He and Anita kept a lovely garden, and Larry pampered and spoiled his flowers on the deck all summer. Larry will be missed, but I like to think that he is reunited with his Anita once again. - Posted by: Peter and Eldora Manshanden (Neighbours) on: Jan 16, 2013
