Date of Passing: Jan 12, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWARREN (BUD) MCARTHUR Peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2013, Warren (Bud) McArthur, age 92, passed away at Deer Lodge Centre. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Blake (Lauren) and Brent (aka Ben) (Andra); his granddaughter Heather (Mike) and their new son Owen; his grandson Devin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Sigrun Ada, and by his son Warren Brian. Dad was born September 23, 1920 in Leroy, North Dakota. The family moved to Winnipeg when he was five years old. He enlisted in March 1942, and after training in England, took part in the D-Day invasion at Normandy. Shortly after, he was seriously injured but continued to serve his country until the end of the war. After returning from the war, Dad met Sigrun, the love of his life. They were best friends, and remained very happily married until Mom's death in 2000. Family was extremely important to him, and he was an absolutely terrific father and grandfather. His grandchildren meant the world to him, with his eyes lighting up whenever he was with them. We are so thankful he had the opportunity to meet and hold his great-grandson Owen. It was so obvious how much it meant to him. Dad had a great sense of humour, and loved to tease. His enthusiastic good nature made him well-liked by all who met him. He had a heart of gold, always willing to take in stray animals, or to help his fellow human beings. Leading by example, he taught us to treat people the way that we would want to be treated ourselves. The family would like to thank the kind staff in T4 at Deer Lodge for their compassionate treatment of Dad. In accordance with Dad's wishes, there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
