PETRONELLA SHUMILAK September 4, 1925 - December 29, 2012 With her family at her side, Pat passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital CCU on Saturday, December 29, 2012. She was 87 years old and died of heart complications while waiting for surgery. She is survived by her three children, Tom Syrota (Liz), Rosemarie Sagness, Bob Syrota (Rose). She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jason, Lisa, Rob, Robynne and four great-grandchildren, Jayden, Marissa, Brennan and Alexa. She is also survived by her sister Ludvena Halbert and brother John Slivinski of Westbank, BC along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Frances and Anton Slivinski, brothers Joe and Mike, sisters Mary Gmeterick, Lena Slivinski, and grandsons Tony Sagness and Micky Syrota. She was also predeceased by her first husband Thomas Anthony Syrota and second husband Joseph Shumilak. A private family funeral has already taken place and she is buried beside her first husband in Brookside Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Hospital ECU and the staff at St. Boniface CCU for all their care and support during this time. We would also like to thank Bruce Halbert and Carl Milkowski for being pallbearers and helping her sons, grandson and great-grandson carry her to rest. We would also like to thank Jason Syrota (Edmonton), Frank Prest, and Tim Shumilak for being honorary pallbearers. Also, many thanks to Bardal Funeral Home for making all the arrangements.
