Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILY HALPER Lily passed peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the Simkin Centre at the age of 92. She was born on September 27, 1920 in Gretna, MB, the youngest child of Max and Dora Nitikman. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joe and sister and best friend Florence Halparin. She is survived by her sons Stewart (Susan) and Stephen (Janet) (Calgary) and daughter-in-law Sheila Halper, grandchildren Daniel and Emily (Calgary) and Lisah (Mark) (Toormina, Australia) and sister-in-law Evelyn Coleman of Delray Beach, Florida, as well as niece, Nancy Nager (Nate), and nephews Kenny Berman (Peggy), Lawrence Halparin (Barbara), and Elliot Halparin (Nancy) and their families. Lily was raised and educated in Winnipeg and earned a Bachelor of Home Economics from the University of Manitoba. She worked in a medical office and later in sales at the Varsity Shop with her husband Joe. She was a Life Master in Bridge and bowled and golfed with her husband. They had many friends and a great life together. Lily was a wonderful cook, a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and grandmother. She will be greatly missed and her memory forever cherished. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
