JAMES (JIM) RUSSELL YOUNG
Date of Passing: Jan 22, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES (JIM) RUSSELL YOUNG It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of James Russell Young on January 22, 2013 with his family at his side. He is predeceased by his parents, Roy and Josephine and in-laws Raymond and Anne Willis. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 48 years, Peggy (nee Willis). Also left to cherish his memory are his four sons, Russell, Kelly (Carrie), Ryan (Kathryn), Christopher (Lisa), nine grandchildren, Lauren, Evan, Jeremy, Abigail, Zachary, Austin, Lucas, Marli and Avery, his two brothers, Allan, Ron (Shirley), two sisters Connie (Ray), Joann (Ric) along with his brothers-in-law Larry and Lindsay Willis and sister-in-law Gladys Wagner. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Jim was born in Winnipeg on May 7, 1942. Dad began working when he was just 16 years old and spent his entire career in the graphic arts industry including over 30 years with Intergraphics Decal where he contributed to the overall growth and success of the company until retiring in 2002. Dad had a unique sense of humour, was very intelligent and was always fun to be around. He was an excellent cook, a great story teller and a practical joker. He had many interests, took pride in his home and yard, enjoyed playing cards and welcoming friends and family over for dinner or a backyard BBQ. Throughout his life Dad learned all types of trades and became quite skilled at them, he enjoyed learning and was a very well rounded person. Dad was a kind, generous and dependable man, always willing and ready to help his family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and passed his love for these passions along to his children and grandchildren. Summers were spent at Lac Lu with family and in the winter he enjoyed hanging out at the ice shack with his boys and friends. Dad spent countless hours watching us play sports and made sure we had a great childhood filled many experiences. We enjoyed many camping and fishing trips together, road trips across western Canada and the U.S., winter getaways and most recently a two week adventure exploring the Maritimes with Mom. Above all, Dad loved his family deeply and would do anything for them. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who have so many great memories of their Grandpa. We're incredibly thankful to have had him in our lives. Dad was a courageous fighter to the very end, he never lost his sense of humour and was more concerned about his family than himself. We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Doctors and Nurses in the MICU at Health Science Centre for the care and compassion they showed our Dad and our entire family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at noon on Sunday, January 27 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.

Jim, his brother Allan and I went to Montcalm Elementary School together. I can't remember the last time I saw Jim but I do remember the last time we spoke. it was Nov. 1975 and I had phoned Intergrapics about a matter and I asked to speak to someone The respnse I got 'floored me'. Am I speaking to Ed Klemm? It was Jim. He had remembered my voice after all those years. I am sorry now that I never met him after that. My condolences to the entire family. It has been a while since I have seen Jim since the wife and I live in Toronto. I glad I got to see him last visit to Winnipeg. Always a smile, such a great host, very kind hearted and just great to be around. He was a great father to his sons and I'm sure a great Grampa. I got the pleasure to work with him at Intergraphics decal and can tell you after working a full day at the office you would have a smile on you're face also. It has been many, many years since I have seen my cousin Jimmy and family. We moved to Florida in 1961, but I do have fond memories of going to his house as a child. His sister Connie and I kept in touch for a few years through letters when we were in school. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you during this difficult time. Our sincere condolences to Peggy and all of the family. Jim's knowledge and expertise was not only valuable in the workplace, but outside of work as well. We remember the first time Jim introduced our family to the beauty of Cygnet lake. Our family has continued to make that a family fishing tradition, thanks to Jim. We have enjoyed many happy times with Jim and Peggy. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Jim (dad) helped us so much with his handy man skills through out the last few years and during the last few weeks when I was at home pregnant with little Zachary he would pop in and do some little fixes and check on me...afterwards we would sit and have tea on our deck that he helped build. He loved his tea and I always made sure we had some as his visits were cherished. Will miss those moments... xo love you always - Posted by: Carrie Young (Daughter- inlaw ( Kelly )) on: Jan 25, 2013
