CHARLES ALLAN (BUD) MURRAY Bud Murray passed away after a brief illness on January 22, 2013 in Calgary, AB. He was born November 5, 1920 in Plum Coulee, MB. He later moved with his family to Waskada, MB where he spent his youth. After serving overseas during the Second World War, Bud returned to Winnipeg, MB where he met and married the love of his life Jean (nee Rusk). Bud spent his entire business career in Winnipeg, eventually retiring in 1985 as President of Superior Shipping, a subsidiary of Canada Steamship Lines. After enjoying his retirement years in Winnipeg, Bud relocated to Calgary in 2010 to be closer to his family. Although Bud was active in many sports including hockey and curling, his real passion was golf. He was a longtime member of the Niakwa Golf Country Club in Winnipeg. After retiring, he also played winter golf in Florida. Bud was predeceased by Jean, his loving wife of 51 years, in 1998. He is survived by his son Jack (Annette), his daughter Robin and his grandchildren Aynsley, Rori, Dylan and Tierney O'Connor. Bud's family would like to thank the many people who made his later years and passing as comfortable as possible, including the Wellington Retirement Residence in Winnipeg and the Colonel Belcher Veteran's Hospital in Calgary. At Bud's request there will be no funeral service. He will be buried beside Jean in Gainsborough, SK.

  • Mother (Alma Williams) and Bud were great neighbours at the Wellington. It was a wonderful place for them to be - always something interesting happening. I know Bud enjoyed his morning coffee with "the boys" and the special events were always fun. I have thought of Bud often and was sorry I didn't have a forwarding address. He was always so interested in my grandchildren (Alma's great-grandchildren). I'm sure Bud, Alma and so many other will all be together sharing a chuckle or two again. My sincerest regards to the family - he was so proud of you all. - Posted by: Marilyn Williams (neighbour's daughter) on: Jan 31, 2013
