GEORGE RICHARD PAINTIN George Richard Paintin born Regina, SK, August 24, 1947. It is with great sadness to have to announce that George lost his long battle with lung cancer surrounded by his loving family on January 21, 2013. He never complained or asked why me? He battled to the end and was able to visit with his loved ones to his last day. He showed class, humour and a tremendous amount of courage to those privileged to have dealings with him in such a difficult time. He is survived by his loving wife Heather. His sons Richard (Suzanne) and Jason, stepson Shane and three grandchildren Christina, Malcolm and Georgia. He is also mourned by his beloved cat Peaches who kept him company at home, as well as visited with him at Victoria Hospital. He will also be missed by his many close friends that visited him and had the joy of his company on fishing trips, camping and barbecues. In keeping with George's wishes, there will be no services held regarding his passing and he will be cremated by Mosaic Funeral Homes. We would like to thank the staff at Victoria Hospital as they did a wonderful job taking care of him in such a difficult time. He was a friend to any and all from diverse backgrounds and beginnings, was quick to offer help whether it was to help fix a vehicle or handyman work or upholstery, which he'd done most of his life. He would easily offer his truck and his wiry muscles to help with any moving project. Some of his most fun stories or adventures came from his jump first approach to life. His time on this earth was to brief and good fortune wasn't always with him but he approached each day with determination, humour and generosity and he will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association. Condolences, as well as any donations can be made on Mosaic Funeral Chapel on-line site.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I worked with George for many years at Palliser Furniture... I didn't grow up having a father figure in my life. The first day I met George he became that father figure I had needed in my life. I looked up to him and admired his dedication and hard work. I kept in touch for a little bit after I left Palliser and enjoyed every moment we spent together and meeting Heather. George I'm so sorry for not keeping in touch as I should have. Your sons are truly gifted and blessed to have you as a Dad !!! You will be missed xoxo Lauren Schmidt - Posted by: Lauren Schmidt (Past co-worker) on: Feb 13, 2013

  • Well...one day I'm sure we will all be where your at right now George. Sittin next to the fire, temperature around you just right, your favourite music playing in the back ground.... No mosquitoes, black flies,no seeums.... I can remember doing a lot of things with George. Hunting, fishing snowmobiling yup all of which ended next to a fire ... I kinda figured that our last ride last year, well was going to be just that our last snowmobile ride. I tell ya I got a lot of memories with George and his family. Huh. I was 12 yrs old and a we lived with the paintins for a short time on Burnell. Oh boy the good old days... Huh I remember I poked the underside of the top bunk bed long enough that I'm sure Jason hasn't really forgave me yet....or Being the water boy on the bench when Rick played hockey .... Yup... Some pretty good party's when George lived down Osborn over the lounge, And BOY do I ever remember those days at the Palomino Bar....Some pretty slick stepping there. I can almost see you two stepping next to the fire, a little river to your left with your canoe tied up..your 22 leaning up against a tree...... Ya we are all gonna miss you Bud, enjoy the pease and tranquility and may your beer always be ice cold George..... Until we meet again, RIP.... My old friend. - Posted by: Bryan Donna and Kaylee Bieuz (Friend) on: Jan 26, 2013
