Where does one start, at losing someone that you felt was like a part of your body! Jim showed me places I would have never seen, like the time he and whipper Bill dragged me along with them to the exciting place of the top of the city dump! Grade 2, it was and they pulled my leg out of a hole that they said rats had made, and if I couldn't get my leg out fast, the rats would chew it off! Yes.. Very exciting times - Posted by: Marlene McColl-Ethier ( 71 years of being -My Brother from another Mother) on: Feb 28, 2013

Jim and I were best friends from when we met in grade 7 at Principal Sparling until we were best men at each other's weddings ten or so years later. We were later separated by years and miles yet the many adventures we shared are treasured memories. - Posted by: Marshall Thompson (Friend) on: Feb 04, 2013

I have never met Jim Thompson but I have gotten to know his two daughters. He did something right by giving these two women their zest for life and their work ethic. They both loved their dad and will miss him terribly and that also tells me something about who this man was. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family as you celebrate Jim's life and his legacy. May he rest in peace! - Posted by: Esther Dyck (Friend of his daughters) on: Feb 02, 2013

So very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We have been friends since grade 1 at Principal Sparling school. We were very close for many years, and although we drifted apart sometimes we always seemed to reconnect again. We even took an infamous road trip to B.C. when we were very young. Feeling bad that we didn't stay in closer contact. I have some wonderful memories of Jim and Harry (baby lah) who was also called (billy suitcase)and grandma Galloway. The Lipton apartments, Nelson's billiards, the Welcome Inn, and Johnny's cafe. I called him "Topper" and he called me "Doc".We were so happy when he married Gloria and we remember Jack dancing in Jim's mom's basement. He just adored his mom and she was so happy when he and Gloria got married. She was so proud when they had their child little Debbie.I hope you took your Hilltoppers record with you buddy. Rest In Peace Old Friend.
