Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySIGMAR HALLI PALMASON Born February 25, 1935 After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Sig passed away on February 1, 2013, with Ken and Erika by his side. Sig was born on the "Gabriel Property" at Bissett, MB. Sig moved to Winnipeg in 1951. He entered the plumbing trade in 1955, retiring as an instructor for the piping trades department at Red River College of which he was a member of the Red River College Heritage Society. He also was a member of the Bissett and Area Historical Society. His activites included fishing, curling and watching the best in the world's women's curling on the internet and TV. Sig is survived by son Ken (Erika), granddaughter Amanda, grandson Jordan and great-grandson Landyon, nieces, Shelley and Karen, nephews, Donald and David and their families. He was predeceased by his father Sig, mother Sina, sister Doris and companion Rita. He would like to thank the Palliative Care Units for all their care provided. Cremation has taken place. Donations in Sig's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society - Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7. Family and friends are invited to a private celebration with the family at their residence on Saturday, February 9, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030

I remember Sonny, as I knew him, as a warm man, who always had time for his first cousin (my mother) Sig's kids. It was always a good time, visiting Uncle Sigmar, Auntie Sina, and Sonny at their house on the river in Winnipeg. "Siggi" liked to stop and talk on his way to the park on his bike with the dog - he had many stories to tell about the past history of the neighbourhood and was very interesting to listen to. Sonny, as I knew him when I was growing up, was a great help and positive influence to me. We would often visit their home on the river as my father was good friends with his dad.
