He passed away at his family farm home January 29, 2013, at the age of 85. He was the third son of John Benjamin Barrett and Elizabeth May (Mabb) Barrett. Wesley, lived his entire life in Fisher Branch. Wesley was predeceased by his parents and oldest brother Harry (Henry Hugh Barrett). Wesley is survived by his older brother Clifford Barrett (Lois) of Sherwood Park Alberta. He has many nieces and nephews and several more great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Wesley's nephews and nieces are Ronald Barrett, Alberta; Gordon Wesley Barrett (Jeanne) of Sherwood Park, Alberta; Brian Barrett deceased 2006 (Debbie); Francis Scully, Edmonton; Beth Marsden (Rick) Strathmore Alberta; Leslie Regher (Dean) Mexico; Hugh Barrett (Dixie) Edmonton; Cindy Rego, Edmonton; Marni Leveck (Bryce) Edmonton; Tobi Pyrez (Mike) Dallas Texas; David Barrett (Kara) Saskatoon, SK; Jolayne White (Shayne) Fargo North Dakota; Joseph Barrett, Sherwood Park; Matthew Barrett deceased 1987). Wesley remained active to his life long calling as a minister in the Anglican Church of Canada. Wesley spent many years as a lay reader prior to his ordination as a deacon in 1973. Wesley worked as a volunteer both as a lay person and as ordained minister. Reverend Wesley Barrett was the 1992, recipient of the Order of Rupert's Land. His last Sunday January 27, 2013, at Saint John's Church is Fisherton was exerbant to those who were in attendance. He sang his soul out and he read from the scripture most profoundly. It was as though he was singing his hallelujah's as his parting witness to the world in his own quiet humble way. He lived a good life. All who knew him, knew Wesley loved God and always served others. He did what Christ would do. He loved and served others. Wesley had a special place in his heart for the First Nation people and spent many years ministering to the fine people of Peguis. He often spoke of his wonderful experiences and friends from the Hodgson area. The family thanks those who were a part in Reverend Wesley's ministerial life. Wesley was involved in the World Wide Church Community, particularly in the Central Buganda Diocese, Uganda in the orphans project and mothers union. He made many life-long friends in Uganda from his February 2000 trip to Uganda. A wake service will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Peguis Hall in Peguis, MB, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch, MB. Reverend Barry Bear and Reverend Godfrey Mawejje officiating. Interment in the Fisherton Church Yard Cemetery. The family of Wesley Barrett express their appreciation to one and all who showed love and care to Wesley. Wesley, lived his last years September 2007 to January 2013, in the Chalet in Fisher Branch. The family expresses their appreciation to those who made him feel at home. A most special expression of gratitude is extended to Richard and Stephanie Hyde and to the RCMP Fisher Branch detachment for their caring manner to Uncle Wes. May all who know Wesley feel of his love and compassion towards each of you. As Wesley would say, "God Bless You." Wesley was a great Anglican and a true Christian always doing and giving to others. He will be truly missed by those who knew of his work not only in Rupert's Land but also in Central Buganda where he was very generous with his support to the orphans there.
