LIONEL ANDRE JOSEPH SIMARD It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Lionel on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 91 years old. Lionel was born in La Broquerie, MB, on April 24, 1921, to Eugene and Dora Simard. He was the second of 14 children. In 1942, he married Louise Bedard and they had two daughters. Many years later he met his new love, Juliette Rodrigue, a widowed lady with nine children. He was a very devoted father to all 11 children. Dad started working at a very early age cooking for a crew in the bush camp. He went on to driving passenger buses and semis to owning his own company until his retirement at the age of 70. He volunteered at L'Hospice Tache for a short time. He was a hard working fun loving man with a great sense of humor with no shortage of new jokes until the very end. You could often see him riding his beloved scooter heading to his favorite restaurant CHICKEN CHEF or to The Forks. He was a dedicated man of prayer. Lionel is survived by his daughters Yvonne and Claudette (Rene), and his step-children, Germaine, Roland (Arnella), Rene (Julie), Yvonne (Armand), Diane, Helene, Rachele, Gisele (Dale), Noella (Wayne) and he also has numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Solange, Alix, Therese, Rose, Marie, Eliane (Leo), Gerard (Lucille), Elizabeth, Yolande (Guy) and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife Juliette, his brothers Rene and Laurent and sisters Lucie and Gracia. He was truly loved and will be deeply missed by all. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with viewing one half hour prior to service in the St. Boniface Basilica. Private interment will be held at a later date at the La Broquerie Cemetery.
