Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE JEFFREY 1927 - 2013 Born in Aberdeen, Scotland and passed away in Ottawa, ON on Sunday, February 3, 2013. Survived by her husband of over 65 years, Robert, her sons Stuart (Sharon) and Robert (Michelle), five grandchildren Dawn, Robyn, Denis, Robert and Dawn, and two great-grandchildren Jack and Rachel. Our special thanks to the staff of the 7th Floor Garry J. Armstrong Long Term Care for their warm and gentle care as well as the Physio, Occupational Therapy and Recreation staff, and the ALS Clinic of the Rehab Centre. She lost her father James when only 11 years of age (lost at sea near the Shetlands), her mother Elizabeth in 1969 and her beloved brother Robert Henderson in 2010, all of Aberdeen. Married in 1947 she immigrated to Canada in 1952 and lived in Winnipeg, Montreal and Ottawa. She devoted all of her life to her family, enjoyed the company of many friends and was grateful for the many good things that life gave to her. At age 83 she visited Rome and made the climb to the top of St. Peters leaving many a younger visitor breathless in her wake. She endured her final illness with grace. A child of the Great Depression who came of age during the Second World War she knew what difficult times were. She appreciated being a Canadian and gave back in full measure as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and this country. A private, family graveside service will be held at a future date followed by burial in the National Military Cemetery. "Good night Irene, good night Irene we'll see you in our dreams"
