LILY LOEWEN (nee PAULS) Surrounded by her loving family, Lily passed away at home on Monday, February 4, 2013, aged 74. She will be lovingly remembered by Victor, her husband of 52 years, her four sons and their families: Peter (Cheryl) and children Erik, Lauren, Victoria and Arianna; Paul (Leanna) and children Luke and Graham; Mark (Marissa) and children Noam and Efram; Rob (Jana) and children Charlotte and Oscar; her brother Werner Pauls (Linda), and aunt, Anna Andres. Lily was born in Chortitza, Ukraine on November 9, 1938. Her family spent three years in Russian-occupied Poland before coming to Winnipeg in 1949. She married Victor Loewen in 1960 and together they lovingly raised four sons. They lived in Winnipeg, Uganda and for 38 years on River Road in St. Andrews, and moved to Fred Douglas Place in 2010. Lily loved cross-country skiing, gardening, picking blueberries and watching her grandchildren on the dock at the family cottage. She loved music, sang in the church choir and listened to her boys play their instruments. Lily was a patient, thoughtful and caring wife, mother and Oma who gracefully and humbly dedicated her life to her family. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at CancerCare, Dr. Laylek, the Palliative Care team and especially Dr. Martin for their care. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
