MERZA OLEEN MACDONALD (HOLMAN)

MERZA OLEEN MACDONALD (nee HOLMAN) Merza died in her sleep at Lions Manor in Winnipeg on January 30, 2013 at the age of 101 years. She was predeceased by her husband Donald A. in 1976, her sister Dorothy (John) Shand in Brandon, MB and her brother Lawson (Betty) Holman in Mission, BC. She is survived by her daughter Iris Penwarden in Winnipeg and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Merza was born in Brandon, MB on July 1, 1911. There she grew up, met and eloped with Donald to live in Winnipeg. The couple farmed for a number of years at the family farm in Vista, MB. Following early retirement, they owned and operated the Siesta Lodge at Clear Lake until 1976. Mother's favourite interests included Bridge, Crossword Puzzles and Travel. She also had a special liking for animals and admired their capabilities. As per Mom's wish, no service will be held. Interment is taking place at Waverley Memorial Gardens (formerly Pineview Funeral Home, 1501 Waverley). On her behalf, special thanks go out to the staff at Lions Manor for their assistance over the past 16 years.
