BILL PETRIE It is with great sadness we announce Bill's peaceful passing, February 12, 2013. Bill was diagnosed with a brain tumour and while he could, made the best of his years. Born, September 17, 1959, in Winnipeg, Bill will be lovingly remembered as husband, father, son, brother, uncle, great uncle, and great friend. Bill always had a smile for whomever needed it and gave more than he asked for. Predeceased by his parents Freda and John Petrie. Survived by his son Timothy (mother Deborah), sisters Susie (Brian) and Carol, brothers in love Don and Barry, nephews Ryan, Kyle, Michael, step-father Roger (Pauline), and many great nephews and nieces. Bill worked as a heavy duty mechanic for a variety of companies but his most memorable job was the time he spent in Afghanistan. He worked for SNC Lavalin in support of the Canadian Armed Forces and he cherished those memories. We would like to thank the staff in the Palliative Care ward for the excellent care they gave Bill in his final days. For all the friends who came to his side, thank-you, you are special people. A very heartfelt thanks to Don Pennell and Barry Nacci for always being there. You are his brothers in love. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care ward at Brandon Regional Health Centre.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I never forgot about him and the times we spent as adolescents and all our mischief. I later in my mid 30's worked with his sister Louise at fleet vehicles. I learned there that he had a health issue, but was soldiering on Bravo to Bill. I heard he spent time in Afganistan and the funny thing was that at around the same time i entered the army Reg Force as a Mechanic. Though we were not around each other at this later time in our lives it is funny to think of how closely our lives followed the same paths. Never Forgotten Soldier on Bill. - Posted by: Ricky Bonneteau (Friend from the past) on: Mar 06, 2013
