DOROTHY LOUISE (LOU) MORRISON Louise (Lou) passed away peacefully at the West-Man Nursing Home in Virden on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the age of 94 years. Lou was born in Kamsack, SK on September 9, 1918 to Dorothy and Edward Fowler. She grew up on the family farm with her brother Edward. After graduating from high school she enrolled in the nursing program at the Winnipeg General Hospital. In 1942 she graduated as a registered nurse and remained in Winnipeg. Lou married Alex Morrison in 1943 and together they raised their only daughter Dianne. Mom was a member of St. Alban's Church and a long-time member of their altar guild. Lou returned to nursing in 1965, retiring as head nurse on the respiratory ward of the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1980. In 1964 Mom bought a cottage at Betula Lake in the Whiteshell and enjoyed many summers there. She moved to Virden in 2003 to be closer to her family. She spent eight years in Princess Lodge and moved into the West-Man Nursing Home in July 2011. Lou was predeceased by her parents Edward and Dorothy Fowler and her brother Edward. She will be forever remembered and missed by her daughter Dianne (Howard) Hanson; granddaughters Shari (Perry) Richard of Weyburn, SK and Debra (Shawn) Plaisier of Virden; great-grandchildren Carissa and Carlyle Richard and Ty and Mya Plaisier. On January 29, 2013 a celebration of life was held at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Virden with Father Don Bernhardt officiating. G. R. Carscadden Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
