When we have people in our lives for many years, it seems to me that it is even harder to say farewell to them. They are so much a part of who we are and how we live out our time on earth that life does not seem the same without their presence. Yet we also feel a profound sense of gratitude for a long life, well-lived. I send you my deepest sympathy on the death of your mother, and will keep you in my thoughts in the days ahead.
