GERTRUDE CECILIA (KIT) HARACK
Date of Passing: Feb 13, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE CECILIA (KIT) HARACK It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Kit Harack, at the age of 89, on February 13, 2013 at her home in Toronto. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by Michael, her devoted husband of 70 years; their children Brian (Dorothy) and Susan Ellis (Greg); grandchildren David (Lori), Alison (Jason), Paul (Valerie), Zachary (Jennifer), and Joshua (Sarah); great-grandchildren Sadie, Kayden and Noah; as well as her many nieces and nephews. Kit was predeceased by her parents John and Francis Smolak, her brother Edward and nephew Edward Jr., sisters, Millie, Leona, and Carrie. Kit was born on November 14, 1923 in Winnipeg, and grew up in Winnipeg's North end. At 19 she married Michael, the love of her life. Together, they raised their family, enjoyed their home and Royal Lake cottage, spending time with extended family and friends in Winnipeg until 1969 when they moved to Toronto. They drove back every summer to spend time in "heaven"; their family cottage at Royal Lake. Mom passed on her love of nature during many happy summers at Royal Lake. She treasured her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and frequently entertained them by telling stories about the old days or sharing her wise advice and wisdom. She baked the best cookies, pizza and blueberry pies, played cards, laughed, debated world issues, and crafted beautiful hand knits. At the end of the day, the sunsets at Royal were the best in the world. She lived a full and blessed life. One piece of advice we especially try to follow: "It's easier to walk a country mile . Kit, Mom, Nano and Auntie Kit you are forever in our hearts. We love you and we miss you." In lieu of flowers, donations in Kit's memory can be made to the Stephen Lewis Foundation. As per Kit's wishes, her body has been cremated and the family will be gathering privately at a later date to commemorate her life.

So sorry for the loss Mike to you and your family. I have known you people all my life which is about 50 years plus. It all began at Royal Lake in 1960. My family and your family bought land to build a cottage right next to each other. We all enjoyed them Royal Lake times. Thank you for some good memories. Take care Mike - Posted by: rudy huber (good friend) on: Feb 19, 2013
