Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOIS WADGE August 18, 1923 - February 2, 2013 It is with sad hearts we say goodbye to a daughter, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, sister, sister-in-law and friend. Lois Wadge passed away peacefully in Toronto at Seven Oaks Long Term Care. Born in Roland, Manitoba, she was the youngest of five children born to Olive Pearl Luke and Thomas Edgar Wadge who moved to Manitoba from Raglan and Epsom, Ontario to start farming and a family. At 18 years old, Lois became a teacher in a one room schoolhouse. In the evenings, she continued her education by enrolling in a business course leading to a long and successful business career. She left Manitoba during the Second World War to join her sister Doris Wadge and her brother Ray Wadge in Ottawa where they worked with the Canadian Forces. In the early 1950s, Lois moved with them to Toronto to live and work for the remainder of her life. While Toronto was her home, Lois made the world her playground. Throughout her life, she travelled to Africa, Australia, Egypt, China, Spain and all countries and oceans in between. She was the envy of family and friends for her wonderful experiences. After retirement, Lois volunteered and continued to travel into her 80's. She led a very active life, golfing, curling, bowling and walking more often than not. During her life and ours, she was a wonderful, kind and generous aunt to three generations of nieces and nephews. She and her sister Doris enjoyed a close bond as friends and sisters and travelled North America together. It was difficult for her in 2006 when she lost Doris. Lois is predeceased by her brothers Ray and George and her sisters Beth and Doris, sister-in-law Muriel, brother-in-law Lloyd Elliott and niece Wendy Elliott. She relished her life working at the Globe and Mail Newspaper in Toronto for 30 years and cherished her friends and the experiences she was a part of. She loved her family, her friends and her life. She was an organized, methodical, hard working, kind and ethical person in all respects. She is survived by sister-in-law Margaret, nieces Cheryl, Kathy, Gay (Bill), nephew Keith, great-nieces Tiffany (Brian), Sheri (Dave), and Amanda, great-nephews Greg and Matthew, and Luke, great-great nieces Kelsey, Sarah and Scarlett, and great-great nephew Jack. Lois put great value in her life, her friendships, her family and her job. She lived her life with integrity, humour and common human decency. As per her wishes, there will be no funeral but interment will take place in the spring at Bethel Cemetery in Greenbank, Ontario alongside Doris, Wendy and Lloyd. We will love and miss you Auntie Lois forever and a day. Our lives were richer because of you.
