Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHELMA DOWNIE March 4, 1913 February 14, 2013 Days before her 100th birthday and on Valentine's Day, our beloved Aunt Thelma passed away with Paul and Donna at her bedside. Thelma was predeceased by her parents John and Borghild, sisters Mary and Verna, and her brothers Wilf, Ralph, Don, Wally and Lloyd. Left to mourn Thelma are her nieces Leslie, Frances and Esther and nephews Roger, Paul, Don, Brian and Blair. Thelma worked at Eaton's Mail Order for 24 years and then at the Department of National Defense until her retirement. Thelma was a member of the Rebekahs for 68 years, first with the Miriam Lodge and then with the Queen Esther Lodge #2. Thelma truly believed in the watchwords of her Order, friendship, love and truth. Special thanks to all the wonderful and caring staff at the Golden Links Lodge. Your kind efforts made Golden Links her home. And the best part Thelm often said was not having to do dishes. Funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the McClure United Church, 533 Greenwood Place on Thursday February 21, 2013. When I was 6, I lived with Thelma and Verna and my grandma for several months as my father had had a stroke. Thelma had such energy, she would take me to the parks and other special events. The summer I was there was Wimmipegs 75th anniversary so there was a lot of special events. I remember the fun that I had with Aunt Thelma - Posted by: Esther Charlton (niece) on: Feb 16, 2013
