Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMINNIE CHAPPEL (SOCHASKY) Peacefully on February 20, 2013, Minnie Chappel (Sochasky) of Holy Family Home passed away at the age of 89. Minnie was born in Komarno, MB, October 14, 1923. She was one of six children of Mike and Mary Sochasky. Minnie grew up in Komarno, leaving home at an early age to go to work in Winnipeg. It was while she was working in Winnipeg, that she met Mike Chappel of Arborg, MB. After a short courtship, they married and had three children Gloria, Lorraine and Janice. Mike and Minnie had a farm that they worked in Arborg, while continuing to work in Winnipeg. Mom was always busy taking care of the children, the home and working the farm and occasionally catering. Once the farm was sold, she went to work at the Delta of Winnipeg with her sister Iris. Minnie was very family orientated, always putting her family first. She was always there to help when and however she could. She enjoyed going to the Casino, her Bingo games and the occasional shopping trips to the States. Mom took care of Dad after his retirement from work and farming as his health requirements grew. Mom was predeceased by her husband Mike in 1994, her sister Iris Gennick, her brothers, John, Peter, Frank and Orest. She was also predeceased by her two sons-in-law John Mushmanski and Mike Swistun. She is survived by her daughters Gloria (Alex) Byra, Lorraine Mushmanski, and Janice Swistun; eight grandchildren: Shelly, Jason, Laurie, Cheryl, Tracy, Kim, Michael and Andy and four great-grandchildren. We would like to thank all the staff at Holy Family Home for their care and compassion during Mom's time there. A special thank you to Nurse Marylou for her excellent care and compassion that she gave to our mother and all the care and concern that she extended to our family. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Debbie Sochasky, Chris Kuzenko, Michael Swistun, Kevin MacDonald, David MacDonald and Rick Marchak, honorary pallbearers will be Andy Larson and Andy Swistun. If life is like a candle bright death must be the wind You can close your window tight and it still comes blowing in So I will climb the highest hill and watch the rising sun And I pray that I don't feel the chill till I'm too old to die young Let me watch my children grow to see what they become Oh Lord don't let that cold wind blow till I'm too old to die young. So sorry for your loss, I only just found out Saturday evening so I apologize that I missed Minnie's funeral. I made friends with Minnie across the hall while she was sitting in front of her room. I always got a smile from her and we would shake are heads at each other. She was one of the only ladies that got my name right. I'm glad that she isn't suffering and at peace. I did visit her last weekend and I'm glad I did that. I will miss seeing her when I come around to visit the unit. All my best to you God Bless you and God Bless Minnie. sincerely Jane - Posted by: Jane Durand (Maria Kukusik's daughter) (friend and neighbor at HFH St Mary's Ward) on: Feb 24, 2013
