Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONNA NAOMI WALTHALL (nee FURUKAWA) Peacefully in San Diego on February 18, 2013 Donna passed away, at age 60, after a lengthy degenerative illness. Donna was born in Winnipeg on September 15, 1952 and was also educated in Winnipeg. Donna married Dan in 1976 and followed Dan throughout his military career to various postings in the U.S. Donna is survived by her daughter Kimiko; her brothers Richard of Winnipeg, Ken and nephew Harrison of Vancouver; cousin Doreen Amadatsu of Winnipeg, aunts, uncles and cousins in Ontario, British Columbia and Manitoba. She is also survived by her childhood friends Liane, Ivy and Linda to name a few. Donna was predeceased by her father Hideo (Harry); mother Kimiko (nee Kato) and sister Laura Furukawa. She was also predeceased by her cherished uncles Shig Kato and Goro (George) Furukawa, and her precious Aunt Sally Shikaze (Kato). Donna was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints (Mormon). She served her Heavenly Father with love and commitment and volunteered extensively for her church with a can do and selfless attitude. One of Donna's greatest attribute was her smile. Donna always had a smile for everyone she met; we mean everyone! To Donna A day without a smile, is a day wasted . She truly believed this. One example of how important this was to her. While living in Colorado Springs, she broke her front tooth and refused to smile. When her tooth was repaired, she exclaimed Now, I can smile . Her smile will be missed by all. The family at this time would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Melanie Bird of San Diego for all the care and compassion she has given Donna, most importantly being a true friend. Also, to the many others who have been there for Donna in San Diego - you know who you are . For this we thank you. The family would especially like to thank Kimiko for allowing her mother to come home and rest with her mother, father and sister Laura. Cremation has taken place, a private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of floral tributes, please consider a charity of one's choice. Please repeat Donna's mantra everyday Keep Smiling . To Kim - thank you Kim for this selfless act of love and compassion - Love Uncle R Funeral Home Crematorium 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
