MARIE TOTTLE (KLYM)
Born: Apr 10, 1921
Date of Passing: Feb 04, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE TOTTLE (KLYM) April 10, 1921 - February 4, 2013 Peacefully and gently Mom passed from our lives into the waiting arms of the Lord and her soul mate Horace, on February 4, 2013 at the age of 91 years. Mom was born on April 10, 1921 to her Ukrainian immigrant parents Wassil (Bill) and Effie Klym. She was the first of eight and was born on their homestead in the Sandy Lake, Beuford Lake, area of Manitoba. Her Dad passed away when she was 13. She left her home at 14 to lighten the family load during their depression-era struggles, having only a Grade eight education. With support from a Winnipeg aunt - Lil - she worked as a maid, for a caterer and at Picardy's Bakery counter. Dad found her at a dance she was catering. He instantly dropped the date he had brought and married her a couple of years later on her 21st birthday. They danced a rare closeness for the next 65 years. Together they spent a very special lifetime living in Weston. In eight years they produced four great-looking boys - Clifford (Trish), Gregory (Sue), Jeffery (Pamela), and Joel (Beverly). Mom really wanted a girl, so they waited a decade, and at 40, Mom had her Laura (Patrick Hogue). Mix in a lifetime of involvement at Sparling United Church, canasta and bridge clubs with fellow Westonites, a cottage built from scratch at West Hawk Lake, decades of chorusing with her Sparling and her beloved Sweet Adelines, tons of travelling, and dedicating herself to 16 grandchildren, 24 great and one great-great-grandson, and you are blessed with a Great and Full Life! Mom was predeceased by Dad on his 88th birthday in 2007, and long ago by three of her sisters: Ollie, Sylvia and Anne and two brothers Metro and John. Her sister Vicky Klym and brother Mike Hyrhoryshyn survive her in Calgary among many loving relatives from BC to Ontario. Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on March 2, 2013 at Concordia Place, 1000 Molson Street, Winnipeg, at 2:00 p.m., with Sparling's Rev. Scott MacAuley fittingly commending. Internment will take place beside Dad in Brookside Cemetery at a later date. In place of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory towards a future for Sparling United Church, 1490 Burrows Ave. Winnipeg, R2X 0S8. Cliff, Greg, Jeffery, Joel and Laura

We have known the Tottle's for many many years. Marie was known for her infectious smile and always had a tune on her lips. Having grown up in Weston, we can recall many occasions when a troop of us would be welcomed into their home. However it was during the sixties when the Sparling YPU/Kairos parties would be held in the Tottle rec room where Marie was known to grab a partner and join in. We remember her willingness to participate in a movie Brian, Cliff and Bob put together in 1965. Marie will live on in our hearts. We send sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Bob and Diana (nee Vance) Ward (Friends) on: Mar 11, 2013

It was a privilege to be a friend of Marie's. She was always so bubbly and happy. Such a wonderful lady. She loved to sing and had a very nice lead voice. So sorry I cannot be there to share stories with you at her service today. We are in Palm Springs and will get in touch with you, Cliff and Trish when we get back. Our sincere sympathy and love go to you and your family at this sad time. - Posted by: Eleanor Harrison (Fellow Sweet Adeline and friend) on: Mar 03, 2013

Aunty Marie added music, laughter and energy to all of our family gatherings throughout the years. Who can forget her singing Christmas carols in Ukrainian or her singing Amazing Grace, impromptu, at her brother's funeral (my dad, John Klym). Our love, prayers, and condolences go to her family. We know she is in a better place and give thanks for her life on earth. May God continue to bless and comfort you all. - Posted by: Patricia Klym Becker and family (niece) on: Feb 24, 2013

my deepest sympathy to Marie's family. Marie was so much fun at Sweet Adelines - we shared many laughs and good times. Marie would often talk about about her beloved Horace and how proud she was of her family. Rest in peace, Marie. I am so proud to say that you were my friend. I am so sorry that I am unable to attend Marie's Celebration of Life on March 2nd. My sincere condolences to you all. - Posted by: Penny Malinowski (friend from Sweet Adelines) on: Feb 23, 2013
