Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISAAC (IKE) FREED June 23, 1923 - January 14, 2013 Peacefully on January 14, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre, Isaac (Ike) Freed passed away at 89 years of age. Ike was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Mary; his wife Ethel; his sisters Clara Hamovitch and Gertie Markell; brother Morris; nephew Sam Freed; sister-in-law Ann Koslovsky, and brothers-in-law Ralph Hamovitch, Jack Markell, Nathan Koslovsky and Sid Zimmerman. He is survived by his children Sandy Schechter (Issy) and Jerry, his grandchildren Farrah Schechter-Torres (Chris) and Stacey Schechter, and his great-grandchildren Ariana and Aiden Torres, along with his nieces and nephews. Ike was born in Winnipeg. From 1942 to 1945 Ike was stationed in Trenton, Ontario while serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Until retiring at age 65, Ike diligently worked for many years in sales at Western Smallwares and later Core Mark. A graveside service, officiated by Rabbi Lander, was held at the Bnay Abraham Cemetery on January 15, 2013. Pallbearers were Mark and Sheldon Koslovsky, Brian and Brent Gertenstein, Aaron Faybush and Sidney Shoib. The family would like to extend its sincerest appreciation to the doctors and nurses of ISU at the Health Sciences Centre who took such good care of Ike during his time in the hospital. If so desired, donations can be made to a charity of choice.
