ROBERT LAURENT ERNEST CARRIERE January 16, 1951 February 15, 2013 It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Rob after a short battle with cancer. Rob was predeceased by his father Lawrence (2004). Rob will be lovingly remembered by his mother Gladys. Brothers Roger, Art, Gary and sister Joanne (Vince). Sister-in-law Elise, Uncles Noel (Nellie), Harvey, Aunts Irene, Alice (Jerry), Mona, and Blanche, and many cousins. Cherishing his memory are his nieces Jennifer, Stephanie and Heather; nephews Dale (Tammy), Andrew and Tyler. Crystal Lowe, mother of Andrew and Tyler. Great-nieces Hailey, Jordon and Hope great-nephews Josh, Ethan and Dean. Rob will be missed by his most beloved friends Marcel and Terry Joyal and there children Gerald, David and Samantha. Rob's loss will be felt by the close friend's he had for many years. Thank you to those who had a chance to visit Rob in his last days. A heartfelt loss will be felt by the many co-workers Rob had at the City of Winnipeg arenas, Public Works Department and Notre Dame Arena. A special mention goes to Rob's favourite roommate, Spike his cat and Robs neighbour Kelly for giving Spike a new home when it was needed. Rob was employed by the City of Winnipeg Public Works for 33 years. The majority of those years were spent as Zamboni operator at Sawchuk, River East and Bertrand arenas, and during the summer doing maintenance of wading pools. He retired from the city in 2009 and kept on working at Notre Dame Arena in St. Boniface. Rob was a dedicated city worker. Operating Zamboni was not a job for him, but a way of life. He spent many extra hours at the rinks doing what he loved most. Throughout his years with the city arenas, Rob had the opportunity to keep the ice in shape for hundreds of minor hockey teams and several MMJHL teams including River East Knights and St. Boniface Riels to name a few. The list of people he knew in hockey circles in Winnipeg is endless and we will all miss his easy going personality too. But for Rob now the last flood of the rink has been done, the gates to the arena ice are closed and the Zamboni has been parked for the last time. In keeping with Robs wishes Cremation has taken place and a service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Church 252 Dubuc St. on the Corner of Dubuc and Traverse in St. Boniface. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Rob to the Holy Cross Church Building Fund. 252 Dubuc St. R2H 1E3 204-782-3541 www.kilcollinscremationservice.com
