Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ALICE CRITCHLEY (nee MCGREGOR) September 19, 1921 - February 23, 2013 The angels of God took Alice to heaven on Saturday, February 23, 2013 to join her husband, Fred. She died peacefully with her family at her side. Alice was predeceased by Fred in 1995, her parents, Lyda Sparks and Findlay McGregor, her brother, Orville, and her very young sisters, Eva and May. She is survived by her children, Bill (Eva) and Nina (Fred) Newlove, grandchildren Bryan (Vickie), Karen (Jared), Nancy, Lindy (Johan), great-grandchildren Sarah, Evan, Xavier, Luka, Annika, Svea, Linus, Becky, and Emil. She is also survived by her sister, Bea and brother-in-law Doug Burgess, sister-in-law, Joan McGregor and many nieces, nephews and friends. Alice was born, raised and schooled in the Strathclair/Elphinstone area. She went into psychiatric nursing in Brandon and in 1942 she joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a nurse. She was stationed in Dartmouth, NS when she met the love of her life - a British sailor, Fred. They were married February 9, 1944. Alice returned to Winnipeg later that year and gave birth to Nina in December, 1944. Fred immigrated to Canada in June, 1946 where he joined Alice in Winnipeg. In June, 1951 Alice and Fred had a son, Bill. Alice and Fred lived primarily in St. Vital, moving from their home on Clonard Avenue to a condo on Arden Avenue. Alice and Fred spent many fun times at their cottage on Booster Lake where they spent many hours fishing in the summer and snowmobiling/sledding in the winters. Mom enjoyed being with family and friends. In February, 2008 Alice moved to River Park Gardens. We wish to thank River Park Gardens' staff for the wonderful care and love that they gave our mother. We are especially grateful to Nancy who went above and beyond her nursing duties and to Lynne for her spiritual care. Her Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to River Park Gardens, 735 St. Anne's Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2N 0C4 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Mom for being the best Mom in the world and raising us to be the best we could be. We will love you forever and will miss you, your beautiful smile and your love. We were sadddened to hear of Nina's mom's passing. Although we did not know Alice personally, she was close in our hearts through the sweet and amusing stories from Nina and Fred. We know that she has left a deeply loving and caring family who will always treasure her love in their hearts. Our sincere condolances to Bill, Eva, Nina, Fred and their families. I am very fortunate to say that I have some of my most beautiful memories of childhood because of Aunty, my relatives and my family. Get togethers on the farm, visiting Aunty and Uncle Fred on Clonard, many warm and beautiful Christmases with everybody together. Aunty is now with Nan, Cliff, Fred and Orv as well as other fantastic family members who will always live in my memories and my heart. Aunty was a woman who could make your day better with just a hello, and your life better because you were lucky enough to know her. Aunty was and is proof that there are angels among us. Love you always Aunty. - Posted by: Lesley Burgess (Niece) on: Feb 27, 2013

Very loving, very caring, always welcoming, and very funny, those are my memories of Alice. Say hello to Dad, Mum and Judy - I'm sure when you Dad (Steve) & Judy get together there will be some serious shennagins going on and Mom (Margaret) will be sitting at the side "tsk'ing" and trying not to laugh. Alice will always have a special place in my heart. - Posted by: Louise Hoskins (Cousin) on: Feb 27, 2013

My sincere condolences to all the family in their loss. I met Nina back in the 60's, and was warmly received by her parents Alice & Fred. They treated me like part of the clan. Alice was a warm, caring, optimistic lady, and I certainly will miss her. May our memories always keep her close to us. - Posted by: Lorri Romanetz (friend) on: Feb 27, 2013
