Sheila & Family, Very sorry and saddened by this bad news. Quite a guy... Greg helped us on more than one occasion- wiring of our garage and basement, air conditioner, and many other projects... Many years ago, we were all in a newly developed neighbourhood.. The winter was much like this year's-- large snowbanks with most driveways being snowed-in. We took the bus...we dreaded the shovelling that would have to be done that evening. Upon returning from work, we found that Greg had cleared our driveway and others as well. He did this throughout that winter. His thoughfulness and kindness are well remembered. He was always very willing to lend a hand with any problem and usually found a solution. Greg took great pride in helping others; he would never accept money. We will always be grateful for having known Greg and Sheila. Take care of yourselves... There are so many funny stories to tell. When we lived at home, my dad who was a carpenter, was looking for some special tool he had just bought. He looked high and low for days. Of course none of us knew or admitted any knowledge...it was winter. Then spring came and the snow began to melt...right next to where Greg parked one of his fixer up cars in the backyard...yup there it was..sticking out of the frozen ground. My dad never said anything. Greg was like that too. A good guy with a talent for making things. More importantly, a sense of humor and a big heart. Time moves forward for all of us but love just grows deeper. Nothing Greg contributed will be lost. I love this photo of him. I'm in Arizona so could not make the ceremony but I celebrate his life and you are all in my prayers. Until we meet again big guy. Dear Sheila and Family We are saddened to see that Greg passed away. Too young to be gone so soon.. We will remember him as a a non stop hard worker who had helped us with our roof and boat ramp addition at our cottage in Sioux Narrows. May you have many fond memories to live in your heart. We wish we could attend the service, but we are wintering in Texas. Please accept our deepest condolences in this time of sorrow. Greg will truly be missed, his passion and patience for his hobby of creating anything he could out of wood simply amazed me. Many times Greg would pop around the corner and say got a minute I want to show you something. It was always some new project that was so beautifully constructed it was fun to watch them take shape. He was a wealth of knowledge to solve a problem and fix it right! A great friend and a great neighbor, I will miss our talks. - Posted by: Clint Remarchuk (Neighbor & Friend) on: Feb 27, 2013

Greg your determination and joy of telling a story relative to the job or life will always be remembered. We especially enjoyed the after work family barbeques at your home. RIP Brother Byers. - Posted by: Bruce Hallmuth (Fellow Firefighter) on: Feb 27, 2013
