MARGARET GOLAS Peacefully at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, Ontario, on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Margaret Golas, of Owen Sound and formerly of Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 93 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Michael Golas. Loving mother of David Golas (Janet), of Alberta and Diana Szelestowski (Steve), of Alberta. Proud grandmother of David (Karen), Dennis, Renee (Ralph), Craig (Anne) and greatgrandmother to Grace, Ava, Jaden, Jenise, Zachary and Jane. Margaret is survived by her sister, Jean Kernot, of Port Colbourne. Predeceased by her husband Michael; her infant daughter, Adeline Golas; her two sisters and one brother. A Funeral Service for Margaret Golas will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Brookside Cemetery. If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Living Word Bible College, P.O. Box 969, Swan River, Manitoba R0L 1Z0 or the Salvation Army as your expression of sympathy. We were very sad to hear that Mrs. Golas had passed way. My family grew up across the lane from the Golases and they were wonderful neighbours. As children, Mrs. Golas or "Aunty Margaret" as we called her then, would always have a special goody bag saved for each of us on Halloween. I also recall how often she and Mr. Golas would go out for day to pick berries and never failed to bring our mum a huge bowl of berries. Much to my mum's delight, they would already be cleaned. When our parents and the Golases got older, they really looked after each other and it was very touching that Dad and Mrs. Golas kept in phone contact right up until Dad's death.
