Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE HELEN BLACKBURN Helen passed away with her daughter and grandson at her side at Seven Oaks General Hospital after a brief illness on February 24, 2013, at the age of 78 years. Helen leaves to mourn her daughter Cindy and grandson Tyler; sisters Joan and Judy (Alex); nephews Corey and Jeff; nieces Nicole and Casey Lee; great-nieces Ryann and Adrianna; and sister-in-law Carol (Johan). Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband Wayne; her parents Catherine and Fred Bowden, and brother Walter. Helen was born and raised in Winnipeg where she formed friendships that lasted throughout her life. She has lived in Detroit, California and Kelowna where she found new and lasting friends while enjoying life with her daughter. Helen later returned to Winnipeg where she met and married Wayne, the love of her life. Together they enjoyed the country life in Teulon and later Stonewall. Helen's job with the Department of Co-op Development sent her on many adventures through Northern Manitoba. Her adventures in travel continued with Wayne. Together they enjoyed many cruises to exotic places. At home Helen enjoyed the company of her family and friends, especially her grandson Tyler. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the caring staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for their kindness and care of Helen during her time there. A memorial service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster Boulevard, on Tuesday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. 204-586-8044

I REMEMBER ONCE VISITING MY MOTHER IN MIDDLECHURCH NURSING HOME, THE SAME HOME AS HELEN'S MOTHER. THE HOME WOULD PUT ON SEVICE'S FOR SPECIAL EVENTS,THIS ONE WAS FOR MOTHER'S DAY,DURING THE SERVICE I COULD HEAR SOMEONE SOBBING SOFTLY,I TURN TO LOOK AND SAW IT TO BE HELEN, SHE APOLOGIZED TO US AND TOLD US SHE GETS VERY TEARY AT THESE SERVICES WITH HER MOTHER,MY OLDER SISTER PEARL HUGGED HER AND SAID SHE HAS NOTHING TO BE SORRY FOR IF SHE HAS THAT MUCH LOVE FOR HER MOTHER SHE SHOULD SHOW IT.
