FLORENCE ALICE MCMURRAY (nee STRINGER) February 11, 1923 - February 24, 2013 With her loving husband of 65 years by her side, Florence passed away peacefully at Oakview Place Extendicare at the age of 90 years. Florence was born in Ridgeville, MB, on February 11, 1923, to Beatrice and Arthur Stringer. She attended Ridgeville School in a one room school house until grade 11 and then went to school in Winnipeg for grade 12. At the age of 22, while working in the sales department at Sherwin Williams Paint Company, Florence met her beloved husband Ray McMurray. They were married on September 6, 1947, at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Ridgeville. Florence and Ray were blessed with three daughters, Brenda, Wendy, and Laura. After her daughters were grown, Florence returned to the workforce. She was employed at Great West Life Insurance until her retirement in 1987. Florence shared a strong faith in God with her husband Ray. She was an active and devoted member of St. Saviour's Parish where her husband was assistant minister for many years. Florence was also a skilled and creative artist whose work hung in an art gallery in Winnipeg. Florence was predeceased by her parents Beatrice and Arthur (Sam) Stringer, her stepfather John (Jack) Stringer, her brother Arthur Stringer, her sister Ethel Curran, and her grandson, Stuart Taylor. She is survived by her loving husband Ray, her daughters Brenda Bemister (Jon), Wendy Porter (Charles), and Laura McMurray, nephews Jay and David, nieces Lee and Adele, granddaughters Michaela (Tim), Christie (Ben), Erin (Tom), Chera (Chad), Courtney, Edana, and Brienne, and nine great-grandchildren. Florence's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Oakview Place Extendicare for the compassionate care they provided during her two month residence and especially in her final days. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., St. Saviour's Anglican Church, 690 Munroe Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
