LINDA LOU JANZEN (STRATTON)
Born: Apr 01, 1945
Date of Passing: Mar 04, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLINDA LOU JANZEN (nee STRATTON) April 1, 1945 - March 4, 2013 Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body. But rather, to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming.... WOW-what a ride. A great lady has died; her legacy lives on in the people whose lives she touched. Linda was predeceased by many and is survived by many. She leaves to mourn her son Peter Zentner (Shannon Basisty), daughter Paige Zentner (Michael Denton), siblings Gail Piper (Dave), Vivian Harrison, and George Stratton (Pat), grandsons Peter and James Denton, as well as many family and friends. Linda faced each day with strength and courage. She believed in family, friendship, and people helping people. She lived with wild abandon. She made people feel special and adored. Linda had an epic sense of humour and believed that laughter was the best medicine. She believed that when you laughed with family, your soul knew. Special thanks to Patti, Val, sister Gail, Jamie and Eunice, along with the staff at D6, CancerCare, Palliative Care, and Safeway Pharmacy (2155 Pembina Hwy). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, 3459 Pembina Hwy. No flowers, but please help us to continue to support the fight against cancer. For those who live with cancer: Cancer sucks. Live strong and keep up the fight!

Paige, I am so very sorry for the loss of your mother. She was truly a wonderful woman so warm and happy, she always had a smile that could light up a room! She was so warm and welcoming to all she met - the world has lost another true gift in your mother and the heavens are a little brighter for her smile. There is a new star in the skies and she will forever watch over you. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. - Posted by: Megan Ludlow (Friend) on: Mar 18, 2013

To Peter, Paige and your family Your mother, Little Linda to our group, was a wonderful lady and a true friend of mine since the 80's, when we met, where else but at the Ramada on Pembina Highway. We always joked about the fact that we had once dated the same person, at different times of course. May Jim Strutt rest in peace for knowing both of us. We sure had a wonderful time together doing fun things over the years, including pool parties at Joe's house; going to the Morris Stampede and helping pull a wagon through the mud bath and then trying to wash it off! There were various trips to Helen's at Winnipeg Beach, and there are a couple of memorable morning pictures from that day! There were a couple of memorable bus trips to Shooting Star Casino. One with a group of Ramada friends and one with our little group when you gave people drinks so that they would push you around in your wheel chair for the weekend! There were numerous evenings spent at various bars around the city over the span of our friendship including the former Ramada on Pembina Highway were some of us had bar stools that we practically owned! We spent many an evening listing to Ray St Germain and his band. We also loved the former Golden Nugget on Pembina Highway as it was close to home for most of our gang in those days. The lounge at the former Birchwood Hotel on Portage Avenue with Al Andrusko and his band was also a hangout for us. I remember one well planned evening, when someone named Little Linda showed up a day late for the gathering of friends! There was lots of wonderful laughter, fun times and great conversation at our lunches and brunches over the past few years. Her bubbly personality and giving nature will be very much missed!
