ARTHUR REGINALD JOHNSON After a lengthy illness with his family at his side, Arthur Johnson passed away peacefully at Golden Door Geriatric Centre on March 8, 2013. Arthur will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Patricia of 49 years, son Robert, daughter Tricia (Todd) Matthews, son Murray (Theresa), son Grant (Cindy); as well as grandchildren Tim Matthews, Melissa Matthews and husband Dustin Watson, Tyler and Jayden Matthews, Cassidy and Peyton Johnson, Grace Johnson; great-grandchildren Chloee and an imminent arrival. He will also be missed, by his brothers Charles, Walter, Oliver and sister Alice Klassen, nieces Beverley, Karen, Susan, Nancy, Patsy, Ruth, Sandra, Diane and Laura Lee, nephews Walter, Charlie, Douglas, Vincent, Bill, Don, Kenneth, Brian, Duane and Scott. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Jean, brothers Morris and Gerald, nephew Lorne, mother and father-in-law Catherine and Grenville Swain. Arthur was born in Carman, Manitoba, on August 11, 1935. He grew up on the family farm and later helped his dad run the farm. He operated a machine on the floodway for several years in the 1960s, and later he worked at Motor Ways as a semi driver. He loved the company and was very sorry when it was sold. Art reluctantly retired at age 70 due to ill health. Art and Patricia travelled for many years all over Canada and the USA. In later years, several winters were spent in Indio, California. Art enjoyed visits to Vermont, Maryland and San Diego to spend time with Grant, Cindy and Grace. Art was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was very proud of his family. We have many memories of happy times together and he will be sadly missed. It is with heartfelt appreciation that the family wish to thank the staff at the Golden Door for their gentle and compassionate care. As the tender care given to his mother before him, the family appreciated the care given to Art. A Celebration of Arthur's Life will be held on Thursday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home - 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB, with the Reverend John Oldham as celebrant. Pallbearers are Tim, Tyler and Jayden Matthews, Dustin Watson, Brad Penner and Lance Marohn.
