Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEANETTE BABEY (nee PYLUK) 1942 - 2013 It is with profound sadness that we announce on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Seven Oaks General Hospital, at the age of 70 years, Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She will always be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, step-grandmother and aunt. Jean will be cherished by her husband of 46 years, Sam, sons Donald (Beverly Stepaniuk) and Michael (Lisa Kachulak), step-grandson Tyler Mandziuk of Rosa, MB, brother-in-law Michael Babij of St. Catharines, ON, and nieces Hania Cotnam (Patrick) and Michele Albright (Joe). She was predeceased by her parents Mary (nee Kornacki) and Iwan (John) Pyluk. Jean was born in Toronto and moved to Winnipeg at an early age where she lived her life in Winnipeg's North End. Mom was devoted to her family; her greatest source of joy in life was her sons. Jean was always positive and enjoyed making people smile. Jean loved to help people in any way possible. For almost 20 years she selflessly volunteered at Holy Family Home where she made countless friends. Jean was an avid bowler at Billy Mosienko Lanes and earned the nickname Mean Jean . Mom was extremely proud of her Ukrainian heritage and enjoyed traditional get-togethers with family. She gave back to the community through her years of volunteer service at Folklorama's Ukraine-Kyiv Pavilion. Mom always had a kind word for all she met; her positivity and gentle, caring nature will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Our family would like to thank the amazing staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital on the 5th Floor, Unit 1 for their exceptional and professional care of Mom, especially Dr. Sarah Kredenster, Dr. Arkin and Dr. Fatoye. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. also at Cropo Funeral Chapel, with interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Flowers are respectfully declined. If desired, donations in Jean's memory may be made to Holy Family Home, where she spent many hours helping residents, would be appreciated. Vichnaya Pam'yat, Memory Eternal (204) 586-8044
