MARIE ROSE LEA (NORMAND) WILWAND It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Rose Lea (Normand) Wilwand on March 8, 2013 in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB. She passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, with family by her side. She was 68 years old. Born on July 2, 1944, in Saint Boniface, MB, Lea was the youngest of seven children. She will once again reunite with family members in Heaven who predeceased her, some of them much too early in life. Those joining her are parents, Agnes and Wilfred, brothers Emile and Alfonse, sister Filixine, daughter Denise and daughter-in-law Lisa. Lea grew up in old St. Vital as a child, and lived most of her adult life as a homemaker and wife in the North End and Elmwood areas of Winnipeg. The last 15 years she resided in the town of Laurier, MB, near Riding Mountain. She was famous for making enormous batches of cookies and the best bannock in the neighborhood. Her passions were country music, Chinese food, playing cards and Bingo, which she always seemed to win at. Mom is survived by her husband, Wayne of 38 years, and their sons Michael, Miles (fiancée Tanya), and Kelly and daughter Karen (husband Robert). Missing their Grandma are grand-children Amanda, Steven, Stephanie, Ashley, Katelynn, Amber, Athena and John. Lea is also survived by her brother Donat and sisters Florence and Olivine, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Prayers for Marie Rose Lea will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Notre Dame des Victories Roman Catholic Church in Laurier, MB at 1:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home for all their excellent care. You made Mom's last days on earth very comfortable and we are all grateful for it. In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, at 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, 204-943-6622.
