DOUGLAS E. HUNT With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father Douglas on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the age of 64 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Lori, sons Devon and Jonathon, as well as his faithful sidekick Woody. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters Marilyn (David) McKay, Debbie (Warren) Kaminsky, and brothers Gary, Jack, Jim (Jan), David (Adele), Donnie (Janice) and Rick (Dawn), as well as mother-in-law Patricia Lewco, sisters-in-law Theresa (Pat) Aldred and Roberta (Kerry) Fisher and brother-in-law Les (Leona) Lewco along with their families. He was predeceased by his mother Margaret, father Ted, niece Jolene and father-in-law Lawrence. Douglas worked at C.N.R. Transcona Shops for 35 years and retired on December 31, 2005. He was heavily involved with the union and did his best to help his union brothers. He was a boilermaker and heavy duty mechanic working on the trains in the shop. Douglas always had a passion for the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. These traditions have been passed down to his sons. In the last few years Douglas' health deteriorated and he was unable to join in the hunting and fishing trips but was sure to phone his sons frequently when they were out to check how they were doing. He always had stories to tell - some good, some not so good. He will be sorely missed. A celebration of Douglas' life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2013 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Douglas to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association of Manitoba. "We Love you, Rest in Peace" Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • My condolences to the Hunt family. Doug and I worked together for many years at the CNR. His unique sense of humor will be greatly missed along with the hunting and fishing stories. We shared a few fishing trips with some of the boilermakers from the shops. Good times. It has been a pleasure to call you a friend.
