LESLEY ANNE KING
Born: May 05, 1952
Date of Passing: Mar 09, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLEY ANNE KING It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lesley Anne King on Saturday, March 9, 2013. She was 60 years old. Leaving to mourn her passing are her two children Brent (Rachel) and Michelle (Jason), her sister Georgie, nephew Curtiss, two grandchildren Julia and Kaylen, as well as many other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Vera, sister Heather, husband Donald, mother-in-law Myrtle and grandson Jacob. Lesley was born on May 5, 1952...the "baby" of the family. She grew up in St. Vital and once married moved to St. Norbert. Being a city slicker, she had reservations about moving into "the middle of nowhere". Though as time went on, St. Norbert grew on her and she lived there until she died. Lesley worked hard in different jobs throughout her life: The Tribune when she first got out of high school, then the St. Norbert Children's Centre, Meadowood Manor and lastly Seine River Retirement Residence where she worked until she became sick. The primary focus and true love in her life was always her family. She married her husband Don at 22 and they remained married until his passing 29 years later. Together they had two children whom she devoted her life to. Nothing made her more proud than to see her children grow into responsible adults (most of the time) and then become parents themselves. She adored her two grandchildren, Julia and Kaylen, and took great pleasure in giving them anything they wanted - "What happens at Grandma's, stays at Grandma's!" Our family would like to thank the folks at CancerCare and the Palliative Program. You all have such a gift and we appreciate everything you did for our mom as well as her family! A memorial service will be held Friday, March 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Flowers are gratefully declined, however donations can be made to the W.R.H.A. Palliative Care Program, c/o 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

Brent & Michelle, your mom was a gift to anyone who knew her. Both of you and her grandchildren were her life and she spoke of you often. I wish I could have been there for the funeral and had the chance to see her before I left. She was one of the strongest, most amazing women I ever met and I am honoured to have worked with her at Seine River Retirement Residence. There will never be another Lesley! My thoughts are with you all she will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Angela Aitchison (Co-worker) on: Mar 16, 2013

I am sorry for your loss, your mom and I went to Windsor school and Glenlawn Coll. together. I remember my sisters sleep overs when they were teenangers, noisey giggling girls.... - Posted by: Gordon and Colleen Sopher (Ivory) (school friends) on: Mar 15, 2013

I really got to know Lesley well later in life even though we grew up on the same street. As I was older I was friends with her sister Georgina when we went to school together. Then fate stepped in and I married their cousin Valerie, of course Georgie played match maker here. Then when I was working at St Boniface Hospital I helped her brother-in-law Rod get a job at the hospital. All these coincidences led us to become friends over time. Lesley was a credit to her mom and dad and together with her very loving family made a great life together. Her children and grandchildren and her sister will miss her very much. Valerie and I send our most sincere condolences to her family and our prayers are with them. Though the tears of today are drawn from the wells of sorrow, They will flow from the springs of memory, Through which will come your strength for tomorrow. - Posted by: Garry McDougall (Friend) on: Mar 14, 2013

Brent and Michelle So sorry to hear of your loss. I had the pleasure of working with your mom for many years at the Day Care. We had many laughs and serious conversations but, what I will cherish the most is her honesty and great advice she gave me along the way. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Growing up with Les by my side was very special! Though we lived across the city from each other we were best friends who had fun together. We enjoyed many a Saturday, after our bedrooms were cleaned, shopping between the old Woolworths store and the Hudson's Bay store. With our allowance of probably $1, we checked out who had the 'best deal' on lunch...the Jolly Canuck in the Bay, Woolworths' counter, or Eatons and lunch was always chips and a coke! Then it was on to finding something to buy whether it was a little ornament for our Moms or a matching jumper that still to this day always made us laugh and cringe when we think back to this purchase. Sleepovers were the best! She had the unfortunate timing of being around me when I was hit by a motorcycle and I dragged Les with me down the street in front of our Grandfathers house on Heatherington Ave. Also when I was developing hepatitis and that meant a needle for her and her Mom, Auntie Vera. As is often the case we drifted apart as her family grew and I moved away but the BEST was getting back together here in Ottawa with her sister Georgie and my sister Valerie. The '4' were back together!! Spending time last June, all together at Lesley's was the perfect time to LAUGH, eat, plant her flowerbed and most of all be together once again! I love Les dearly and she will always be in my heart.... - Posted by: Arlene and David Widdows (Cousin to Lesley) on: Mar 14, 2013
