STANLEY (STANISLAW) J. SZWARC Peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, Stanley Szwarc, aged 84 years, passed away at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Danuta, his children Bernadette Burtnick (Paul), Teresa Driskell (Rick), Angela Slivinski (Mark), Mitchell Szwarc, Dorothy Losier (Clarence), Barbara Grant (Chris), sister Mary Kaszuba (Stan), brother Walter Szwarc (Adele), 18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Aniela and Jozef Szwarc, sisters Krystyna Partyka (Frank), Joan Hoszowski (Zbigniew), Anne Szwarc, Father Jacob Szwarc O.M.I., and granddaughter Eva Burtnick. Born in 1929, in Poland, to Jozef and Aniela, Stanley was the second oldest of seven children. During the Second World War his family was sent to Germany to work as forced labour. Stan came to Canada in 1948, at 18 years of age. He worked at numerous jobs in order to help bring his parents and younger siblings to Canada. In 1957 he met and married Danuta and together they devoted their lives to raising their six children. Dad will be remembered for his love of family, hospitality, generosity, work ethic and his love and faith in God. Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave., with Rev. Fr. Maciej Pajak, OMI officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Ghost Parish. Thank you to all who gave Dad their kind and compassionate care and to our family and friends for their love, prayers and support. Rest in peace, Dad. We love you and always will.
