Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDENISE SHELLY BOUSQUET On Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Portage District General Hospital, Denise Bousquet, of Portage la Prairie, beloved mother of Daniel (Stefanie), passed away at the age of 51 years, following her spirited battle with cancer. Left to remember her with a smile, is her brother Allan (Brenda) and daughters Monique and Alice, her sister Maureena (Raymond), brother-in-law Mike McLellan and children Peter, David, Jenna-lea, her brother Curtis (Kellee) and children Jorin, Jayla, Jaycee, and Coltyn, and many members of her extended family, friends and co-workers. Denise was predeceased by her mother Alice Hickman, father Geordie Barrault, sister Norma McLellan, and nephew Mark Bergson. Denise was born and raised in Portage la Prairie. She completed her nursing degree in Winnipeg, and started her career as an LPN at St. Boniface Hospital. She moved to Portage General Hospital in 1995, until her path changed due to her diagnosis. We always heard about what an incredible nurse Denise was and how she advocated for all of her patients, often loudly. Denise's most cherished role was being a mother to Daniel, and she was so proud seeing the man he had become. She never a missed a game or event that Daniel was involved in, as he was her whole world. Denise played many sports, enjoyed dancing, singing and volunteering for the MMF and the MALPN. She could be seen every Thursday and Sunday night at the Keesh playing or running poker with her brother, Curtis. After Denise was diagnosed, she got busy living. She enjoyed many trips with family and friends, and made the most of everyday. Although her path in life changed, Denise never allowed any of the challenges of her new journey to change her. Denise was always extremely positive, to the point that even strangers were in awe of her strength and incredible outlook on life. She met each setback with phenomenal courage and grace. A special thank you to all the friends, and co-workers who drove Denise to appointments and treatments, and took such great care of her when she was in fighting her courageous battle. Your dedication is a testament to Denise's ability to form meaningful relationships with so many people. She had an amazing network all over North America who loved her. I am not afraid to die, I just don't want to leave. Even at the end of her life here on earth, she was still more worried about all of us who loved her, than she ever was about herself. Funeral service will be held in Trinity United Church, 15 Tupper St. S., Portage la Prairie, MB, on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Should friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 0K8. A tribute DVD in memory of Denise will be produced by the Omega Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family, c/o Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road South, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, R1N 1T8, 1-800-303-4621 or friends may leave a message of sympathy on our web site www.omegafuneralhome.com "Dedicated to those we serve".

I recall Denise as a bubbly, and hard working student, dedicated to fulfilling her dream of becoming a Nurse. She was a beautiful woman whose eyes sparkled, and always smiled. She often gave me for a ride home, to Portage la Prairie, on the weekends when we'd have an hour or so to share our stories. Although I was only 3 yrs younger, I admired her maturity and positive attitude about life. I am sad to learn of her passing especially at such a young age. God Bless you and your family Denise. - Posted by: Lorraine Gadoury (Campbell) (Nursing school classmate ) on: Mar 17, 2013
